How to Apply to AmeriCorps*MLK VISTA

 

 

There are two ways to apply to AmeriCorps*VISTA:

Apply with a paper application or apply online via the national AmeriCorps website. Please see instructions below.

 

APPLY WITH A PAPER APPLICATION

1. Download the application at http://www.solid-ground.org/AmeriCorps/Apply/Documents/AmeriApp.pdf or pick up an application in person at:

2. Completely fill out your paper application and submit it by:

3. Two Recommendations are required. Download and save the recommendation form here: http://www.solid-ground.org/AmeriCorps/Apply/Documents/ACrefdir.pdf. (The recommendation form is a fairly large file, so it may take a little time to download). Print off 2 copies and give them to your 2 recommenders to fill out. Or e-mail a link of the page to your recommender. They may download the recommendation form and fill it out on their computer.

If you include their e-mail addresses, they will automatically be e-mailed the recommendation form. 3. Apply online by going to the national AmeriCorps website and filling out an online application at  https://my.americorps.gov/mp/login.do. When the AmeriCorps site opens, click on "Apply to Serve" and follow the instructions. Be sure to have the Listing ID # 4383 ready...you will be leaving this website. Once submitted, the online application will be automatically forwarded to us if you list our Listing ID # 4383.

 

El Centro de la Raza Positions:

El Centro de la Raza has two MLK VISTA positions open:

 

Events Coordinator (Position 1)    

The VISTA Events Coordinator will participate in coordinating an annual fundraising event and smaller social events with the help of our development team, which also includes an individual giving component. Responsibilities include securing a venue and event services, coordinating printing of event materials, coordinating event sponsors and donations, tracking sponsors and attendees, tracking event costs and revenue, evaluating events, and developing procedures for future event planning to sustain the events program.

 

Volunteer Coordinator (Position 2)

The VISTA Volunteer Coordinator will assist with volunteer coordination for events and donor cultivation tasks, developing volunteer program procedures, and cultivating volunteers. Responsibilities include giving agency tours to volunteers, writing volunteer job descriptions, using a database to track hours for volunteers, working with volunteer groups, developing a recognition program for volunteers, assisting with fundraising strategies and developing sustainable volunteer program infrastructure. Bilingual in Spanish and English to communicate with our Spanish speaking volunteer base is a plus.

 

After acceptance into MLK VISTA, your application will be forwarded to El Centro de la Raza for review. Please select El Centro de la Raza as one of the sites you are interested in and make sure you let the MLK VISTA staff know you are interested in applying for our Volunteer Coordinator position or our Events Coordinator position.
