José Martí Child Development Center is a Shining Example for Bilingual Childcare.

José Martí Child Development Center, a licensed childcare center at El Centro de la Raza, has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The significance of this accreditation is further exemplified by the fact that José Martí CDC is the only bilingual (Spanish) program in Washington State to achieve this recognition. Also, only 10 percent of the area's childcare centers, and less than 5 percent of the nation's childcare centers are accredited. The areas in which José Martí CDC excels at in order for it to qualify for accreditation are: staff qualifications and training, staff-to-child ratios, parent involvement, and health and safety. The organization that provided support and assistance for José Martí CDC's accreditation was Employer Champions for Children, which has been working to increase the number of accredited childcare program in Seattle and King County.
