El Centro de la Raza is proud to present El Dia de los Muertos 2006. As a traditionally Latino festive holiday honoring the death of family and friends, we open the event to include people of all cultures to share in the diverse ways we honor the cycle of life and death. Participating community and cultural organizations throughout the Seattle area join together to create an exhibit of ofrendas or altars that focus on a particular concern or issue that is affecting their communities. Each ofrenda holds high the dignity of life and honors those who have passed before us while allowing diversity of customs and traditions to influence each unique altar. The event allows the dead to live on though memories, allows us to celebrate their lives, as a community and reminds us all of the common humanity we share. We invite you to join us on this most special occasion of multi-racial unity to learn about the mysterious reality of our world and the commonalities that we, as a diverse people, have to celebrate and share in. We thank the following organizations for being a part of this celebration of diversity, culture and unity.
