El Día de Los Muertos Volunteer Opportunities

For November 1-21, 2006

 

These volunteer opportunities are the perfect way to get involved in the community if you are interested in learning about El Centro de la Raza, even if you don't have much time on your hands. If you’re an individual who is interested in multiculturalism and particularly, Latin American holiday and traditions, please join us in putting on our annual event, El Día de los Muertos. The holiday will be celebrated through a 21-day exhibition of multicultural altars to honor the dead.

 

Volunteers are needed during the opening night ceremony for:

• Event set up
• Serving food
• Directing traffic
• Clean up

 

Other volunteer opportunities during the 21-day exhibition include:

·         Helping to facilitate art workshops.

·         Working as a tour guide of the altars. (Volunteer guides must verse themselves in the history and traditions of the holiday to relay the information to visiting guests and student groups.)

 

DATES

Art Workshop:  October 25^th

Set up:  October 30^th

Opening Ceremony:  November 1^st

Exhibition Tours:  November 2^nd- 21^st

 

Volunteers should be dependable and have effective communication.

No prior experience volunteering is necessary.
