The United States is home to one of the largest populations of Mejicanos outside of Mexico. The immigrant Raza bring with them unique styles of music from regions such as Veracruz, Michoacan, Guerrero and Oaxaca. To mainstream America folkloric Mexican music is largely unknown. The music of the Mexican American Raza has its roots in Mexican folk music but has evolved to become a part of American music, a fusion of the traditional music of Mexico and the potpourri of American music from folk to jazz to rock ‘n’ roll.
